Medical Templates, an award-winning Swiss startup in the space of interventional radiology, has announced the completion of a 3 Mio CHF seed round to start commercialization of its patented Cube Navigation System (CNS). The round has been fully funded by discoveric ag, a family office based in Pfäffikon Switzerland with longstanding expertise in the Health and Biotechnology industry.

Medical Templates will use the funding to launch commercialization of its Cube Navigation System (CNS) with two products covering different type of thin instrument interventions: the Puncture Cube for pain therapy interventions and Access Cube for larger needle interventions including ablations and biopsies. With existing CE approval for its navigation solution, Medical Templates will open commercial operations in European markets first, followed by expansion into the US market upon FDA certification.

The Cube Navigation Solution aims to transform the way CT guided interventions with thin instruments are performed. Currently a majority of interventions are performed free hand, which can lead to inaccurate, repeated and/or unnecessarily long procedures. Medical Templates aims to update the standard of care through easy-to-use computer-guided precision. With first data showing that using the CNS leads to shorter intervention time and higher accuracy, the solution is ideally positioned to not only improve clinical outcomes but also to provide financial benefits for radiology departments through substantial efficiency gains.
New addition to leadership team to facilitate commercial growth
In conjunction with the seed financing round, Medical Templates’ founders team announces the appointment of a new CEO, Anika Uhde. Anika has more than 17 years of experience in the medical devices industry and a strong commercial background: she has held Marketing, Business Development and Sales roles at Philips Healthcare and Sonova and also brings start-up experience from Biovotion and Biofourmis.
Current CEO and co-founder Prof. Stephan Wetzel will lead Clinical Development as Chief Medical Officer and Rafael Hostettler will focus on the CTO role.
